Fashion Trends Are Here To Stay But Are They Negatively Impacting Your Style

with current trends, blindly following them can result in a loss of individuality and you can find yourself getting lost what seems like a bottomless pit of fast fashion.

We’ve all been there where we’re scrolling on Instagram, Facebook or my personal favorite Pinterest and you come across someone who’s look and style seems to be nothing short of perfection. And without even realizing it you’ve saved or pinned that post thinking “Yess this is the one! Those shoes! That bag! I need this whole look!

Here’s the thing, all the looks and trendy styles popping up on your timeline are all part of an evergreen of fast fashion. Although this type of fashion can be eye catching and loud in popularity. I get it, no one wants to be left out of the newest “it” thing.

However, being left out doesn’t mean you’ve been left behind. Not all trends will suit everyone's personal taste or body type.

Moreover, when following trends, you can start to lack creativity and originality in your wardrobe. It's important to develop your own unique style that reflects your personality and individuality. It’s ok if the last and greatest is just not your cup of tea, because as we all know fashion trends often change quickly and can be costly to keep up with. This can lead to constantly buying new clothes, which can be environmentally and financially unsustainable; Who has time for that?

Instead, think about incorporating classic pieces with a modern twist or my personal hack, pulling pieces from your own closet and experiment with different prints, textures and fun colors.

Fashion should be fun. Fashion should be a form of self-expression and a way to showcase your personal style.

Ultimately, fashion should be a form of self-expression and a way to showcase your personal style. As a personal stylist my rule of thumb is this; it's okay to incorporate trends into your wardrobe, however it's more important to do so in a way that aligns with who you really are.

Let’s start a conversation

Fast fashion. Are you over it? Or here for it?
